8x8 LED array with I2C red backpack - Adafruit

These arrays use a driver chip that does all the heavy lifting. They have an integrated clock to multiplex the matrix.

Use constant current drivers for ultra bright and consistent colors (the images above are photographed in the darkest setting to avoid overloading, 1/16 step screen darkening, all through a simple I2C interface.
