The Rotary Encoders are similar to Potentiometers, however, as they have no physical limits, they can run indefinitely. However, the similarity to a potentiometer is only physical, instead of having a variable resistance, in this type of Encoder we have an impulse output with 20 impulses per turn. In addition to the impulse output, it also has a push button function with two dedicated pins that close when we press the Encoder shaft.
