The CD4518BE is a dual-count CMOS counter BCD composed of two identical, internally synchronous 4-stage counters. The counter stages are D-type flip-flops, which have interchangeable CLOCK and ENABLE lines to increase the indo-positive or negative transition. For unitary operation, the ENABLE input is kept high and the counter advances at each positive CLOCK transition. Counters are cleared by high levels on their RESET lines. The counter can be cascaded in the ripple mode through the Q4 connection to the subsequent counter input while the CLOCK input of the latter is kept low.
